Do I need a referral?
You do not need a prescription or referral to see a Physical Therapist in California. You can be treated by a Physical therapist for 12 sessions or 45 calendar days, whichever occurs first. Beyond this period, you are able to continue with Physical Therapy only after having received an in-person examination and approval of your Physical Therapist’s plan of care by a physician, osteopath, or podiatrist, certified in the state of California.

Do I need a prescription or referral for physical therapy?
Due to California state law, if your care at Blue Zone Physical Therapy extends beyond 12 visits or 45 days (whichever comes first), you'll need a prescription or referral. If you're using insurance, your provider may require a prescription or referral even sooner.

How long will my appointments last?
Treatment sessions vary, but you can generally expect to spend 55 minutes at each appointment.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear clothing appropriate for a gym setting, particularly attire that allows easy access to the body part being treated (e.g., shorts for knee patients, tank tops for shoulder patients).
What is included in a Physical Therapy Evaluation?
During your evaluation session you and your Doctor of Physical Therapy will discuss your symptoms, concerns and goals and conducts a physical assessment of you as a whole and focus mainly on your current condition in detail and determining the best course of action will create a care plan tailored to your needs.
You will receive some recommendations during this session and have access to your online personalized home exercise program with the written instructions, photos and videos. And you can log in anytime to access your plan. A printed version can be provided to you upon request.
What is included in a Physical Therapy Follow-up?
Each follow-up is a 55 minute session with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. Visits usually range from one to three times a week and taper to monthly as you progress. During each follow-up session, you will work with your PT to advance your care plan and achieve new milestones towards your goals. Each session is customized to meet your evolving needs and includes reviewing symptoms since your last visit and brief re-assessments.
Can I bring my children with me to physical therapy?
We aim to create a supportive environment for you and we understand that childcare can be a challenge. Please let us know in advance your session if you are planning to bring your child to your visit. You may bring them as long as they remain under your supervision. If you prefer receiving childcare during your session, let us know, and we will arrange it for you. Terms and conditions will apply.
What are your cancellation policies?
We require at least 24-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer your slot to another patient in need. Late cancellations or no-shows will result in a fee.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept Medicare.
For other insurances:
We are "out-of-network" provider. If you have a PPO plan that allows you to use out-of-network benefits, you may be covered for majority of your treatment costs by your insurance provider. We provide you with a coded receipt also known as "super bill" upon request, and you may submit your claim to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Please note that a super-bill will not be provided for Telehealth.

Can I use my Health Savings Account to pay for my physical therapy?
You can use your Health Savings Account, as coverage for your Physical Therapy.
